The Founding Congress gathered in the Great Hall of the University of Latvia on October 8, 1994 and founded a new society with the previously known name - The Pharmacists Society of Latvia (PSL). 197 delegates took part in this Congress and elected Aigars Eniņš to be the first president of PSL.
Since 1994 PSL has been steadily growing and now brings together approximately 1200 members. PSL acknowledges the historical traditions of Pharmacists’ and chemists’ society of Riga (founded in 1803) and Pharmacists’ society of Latvia (founded in 1937) as mentioned in the Article 1.2. of the Statutes of PSL.
The goal of the Parmacists Society of Latvia is to advocate for professional, economical and legal rights of Pharmacists and Pharmacist assistants in Latvia, to improve qualifications of Pharmacists and Pharmacist assistants and to promote public health.
