21.04.2023. 23.20: Some already known and some new colleagues have been met during our Welcome reception. The beautiful sight of the sun setting into the sea made this evening truly magical. Some well needed relaxation before a long day of Forum work tomorrow.

21.04.2023. 10.05: The president of the Pharmacists Society of Latvia - Dace Ķikute - has opened the national conference of the 23rd BaltPharm Forum!

For students

The Forum conference on April 22 will include viewing and evaluation of student stand reports.
Up to 5 university students - studying to become pharmacists, working on their master’s thesis or PhD - from each of the Baltic countries will have a chance to participate in this year’s Forum with their scientific posters. All posters will be evaluated by a jury and the best posters will be awarded.
Students have to register their participation by March 21, abstracts need to be submitted by March 27.

Event Theme: “The problems and perspectives of pharmaceutical care practice in Baltics”

23rd BaltPharm Forum will consist of two main parts - the National conference in Latvian for Latvian pharmacy specialists on April 21 and the International conference in English where pharmacy specialists from all three Baltic countries are welcome to participate.

The international part of the BaltPharm Forum will start in the evening of Friday, April 21, with a Welcome Reception where participants will have a chance to make new connections and get to know each other. Saturday, April 22, will be the main Forum work day which will conclude with a Gala Dinner. On Sunday, April 23, BaltPharm Forum participants will have an option to take part in a tour of the new Riga Stradiņš University Pharmaceutical Education and Research Centre and attend the Pharmacy Museum in Riga.

During the main Conference day on April 22, a student scientific poster session will be held.  Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian representatives will share their reports on the situation in the pharmacy field in each of the Baltic countries. Topics planned for discussion include digitalisation in pharmacy (electronic cross-border prescriptions, telemedicine etc.), division of responsibilities in a pharmacy setting and the role of young pharmacy specialists, modernization and future of hospital pharmacies, as well as history of pharmacy and Baltic cultural heritage.The head of the Belgian Pharmaceutical Association and this year’s president of the PGEU (Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union) Koen Straetmans as well as the member of the Scientific Committee of the EAHP (European Association of Hospital Pharmacists) Dr.Pharm. Inese Sviestiņa have confirmed their participation and will also share some valuable information in this year’s Forum.

The future is only in our own hands! How we treat ourselves will give us an environment that we deserve. How aware we are of our profession will carry out our mission. Let us not expose ourselves to pressure, and create a healthy and sustainable society. It is in our power to change the rules, to establish our arrangements and to be extremely flexible in todays changing world. We just need to get together and be louder than ever! Looking at the future, we must all look in the same direction!
